What is Pilates?
The Pilates Method is a technique that centers on the balanced development of the whole body. Joseph Pilates was dedicated to improving physical and mental health. He developed his method ‘Contrology’ over the course of his lifetime and his innovations and exercises continue to evolve today. Whilst new research continues to advance his original teachings the true philosophy of the Pilates method has remained.
How does it work?
The Pilates method is a mind-body discipline designed to elongate, strengthen and restore the body’s natural balance. Pilates employs whole body movements, aiming to re-educate and restore your muscular and skeletal function. It is this holistic approach that sets Pilates apart from many other forms of exercise.
